You fix things. We'll get the phone.
When you're on a roof or in a crawl space, the phone can wait. Your customer can't. AlloPlace answers in English or French, books the job, and puts the real emergencies through to you.
Why trades miss so many calls
You don't have a front desk. You have a phone in your pocket and both hands busy.
In one study of tens of millions of calls to home-services businesses, only about half reached a person. The same study found that when a caller is a real lead, close to half of them book on that first call.¹ Someone with water on the basement floor isn't going to wait for a callback. They're going to call the next plumber.
What it does for you
Books the routine work. Tune-ups, inspections, estimates, small repairs. It offers real times from your Google Calendar and books the one the caller picks.
Puts emergencies through. Tell it what counts as urgent in plain words: "no heat", "water leaking", "sparking panel", "locked out". Those calls go straight to your phone or the on-call tech.
Takes good messages. Name, number, address, what's wrong and how urgent it is. Not "call me back" and a mumble.
Covers the hours you don't. Evenings, weekends and the first cold night of the year, when everyone's furnace decides to quit at once.
Answers the same five questions. Do you come out to my area? Are you open Saturday? How much is a service call? Do you do heat pumps? You write the answers once.
A night in October
It's 9:40 p.m. A homeowner in Laval calls because the furnace stopped and the kids' rooms are getting cold. AlloPlace picks up with your company name, says it's an AI assistant, and asks what's going on. "No heat" is on your urgent list, so it tells the caller it's putting them through and transfers to your on-call tech. The tech answers already knowing the address and the problem, because the summary is waiting on their phone.
TBD: replace with a real call once we have a pilot customer's permission.
Rules you might write
- "If someone says no heat between November and March, transfer to the on-call number."
- "We don't do new construction. Take a message and say we'll refer them."
- "Service calls are $TBD. Quotes for replacements are free and done in person."
- "Book estimates only on weekday mornings."
Good to know
- Calendar: books into Google Calendar today. If you run your schedule in Jobber, Housecall Pro or ServiceTitan, there's no direct connection yet. Talk to us before signing up so we can tell you honestly whether it'll work for you.
- French: it speaks French and English and switches when the caller does. More on that
- Your number: keep your current number and forward it, or get a new one for the truck.
