Someone's locked out. They're calling everyone.
A lockout caller doesn't leave a voicemail. They go down the search results until somebody picks up. AlloPlace answers in English or French, tells them your rate if you want it to, and puts them through to the locksmith who's free.
The calls you get
House lockouts and car lockouts, mostly in the evening and at night. A key snapped off in the lock. Someone just bought a house and wants the locks rekeyed. A landlord changing locks between tenants. A store owner who needs a new master key system. A smart lock that stopped talking to its app.
The first question is almost always "how much?" The second is "how soon?"
What it does for you
Gives the price you set, word for word. It quotes your lockout rate and any after-hours fee exactly as you wrote them. It won't make up a number or offer a discount you didn't approve.
Puts lockouts through fast. A short set of questions (where, house or car, anyone inside), then a transfer to you or the tech on call.
Books the work that can wait. Rekeys, lock changes, deadbolt upgrades and smart lock installs go into your Google Calendar, with a confirmation text.
Tells callers what to have ready. If you need ID showing the address, or the car's registration, it says so before you arrive, every time.
A typical call
It's 11:30 p.m. in Sherbrooke. A student is standing outside their apartment in the cold with no keys. Your greeting is in French. AlloPlace asks for the address and whether anyone is inside, gives your after-hours lockout rate as you wrote it, and reminds them you'll need ID with the address on it. Then it transfers to your on-call tech, who picks up already knowing where to drive.
TBD: replace with a real call once a customer agrees.
Rules you might write
- "If a child is locked in a car, tell the caller to call 911 right away."
- "Lockouts after 10 p.m. have an after-hours fee. Always say it before transferring."
- "Tell every lockout caller we'll ask for ID showing the address, or the vehicle registration."
- "We don't open safes. Take a message and say we'll refer them."
Good to know
- Calendar or software: books into Google Calendar only. There's no connection to locksmith dispatch or job software. Talk to us if that matters.
- Payments: it doesn't take card numbers on the phone. Payment happens on site, the way you do it now.
- Not an emergency service: for danger, your rules can tell callers to call 911.
