The fridge died. The groceries are on the counter.

Most appliance calls ask the same three things: do you fix my brand, what does it cost to come out, and how soon? AlloPlace answers them in English or French from your price list, and books the visit into your calendar.

The calls you get

A fridge that stopped cooling. A washer full of water that won't drain. A dryer that turns but doesn't heat. A dishwasher leaking onto the kitchen floor, an oven element that went out the week before a holiday dinner. People asking if a ten-year-old machine is even worth fixing. And customers you've already seen, calling to ask whether their part has arrived.

What it does for you

Says which brands you fix. List the brands and appliance types you service. It says yes to those and a polite no to the rest.

Gets the model number. It asks for the brand and model, and tells callers where to find the sticker if you've written that down. You show up with a better idea of what's wrong.

Explains your service-call fee. The fee, what it covers and whether it counts toward the repair, exactly as you wrote it.

Books the visit. It offers open times from your Google Calendar, books one and sends a confirmation text. With the caller's okay, a reminder goes out the day before, so someone's home to let you in.

Doesn't pretend to track parts. It can't see your parts orders. Those callers get transferred to the office or leave a message.

A typical call

It's a Saturday morning in Brossard. A caller's fridge is warm and the freezer is starting to drip. AlloPlace asks for the brand, confirms you service it, and asks for the model number. The caller reads it off the sticker inside the door. It gives your service-call fee as you wrote it, offers Monday morning, and books it. The summary in your inbox has the model number in it.

TBD: replace with a real call once a customer agrees.

Rules you might write

  • "We don't service built-in or commercial refrigeration. Say so politely."
  • "Always ask for the brand and model number. If they can't find it, book anyway and note that."
  • "The service-call fee counts toward the repair if they go ahead. Always mention that."
  • "If someone asks about a part we ordered, take a message for the office."

Good to know

  • Calendar or software: books into Google Calendar only. There's no connection to repair or dispatch software. Talk to us first.
  • Warranty: it can't check whether a machine is under the manufacturer's warranty. It can explain your own policy if you've written it.
  • Payments: it doesn't take card numbers on the phone.
