FAQ

Questions

Will my callers know it's an AI?

Yes. Every call starts with a short notice saying so. We think callers deserve to know, and an honest AI that books them in beats a voicemail box. TBD: depends on the fixed notice.

Does it sound like a robot?

Listen and decide. Hear a real call. It talks at a normal pace, lets people interrupt, and keeps its answers short.

What if it gets something wrong?

It answers from the information you give it, and when it doesn't know, it says so and takes a message. It also won't tell a caller they're booked until the booking has actually gone through. You can read the transcript of every call, so if an answer was off, you'll see it and can fix it in a minute.

Can I keep my phone number?

Yes. Forward your existing number to AlloPlace, for every call or only when you don't pick up. Or get a new local or toll-free number from us.

Does it work with my calendar?

It books into Google Calendar. Outlook isn't supported yet. If you schedule in Jobber, Housecall Pro, Tekmetric or another job or shop system, there's no direct connection yet. Talk to us and we'll tell you honestly whether it'll work for you.

Can it put calls through to me?

Yes. It transfers calls to you or anyone on your team. You decide when, in plain words: "Put through anyone who says it's an emergency."

What languages does it speak?

English and French. It starts in the one you choose and switches if the caller speaks the other. More on that

How long does setup take?

TBD: a measured figure from real customers. Most of it is typing in what you already know: hours, services and common questions. You can also point it at your website and let it read it.

Do I need to be technical?

No. If you can fill in a form and forward a phone number, you can set it up. If you'd rather we did it, TBD: done-for-you setup offer.

How much does it cost?

Free to try. Starter is US$30 a month for 150 minutes, and Pro is US$100 for 500. Every feature is on every plan. Full pricing

Is there a contract?

No. Monthly plans can be cancelled anytime. TBD: confirm in terms.

What happens when I go over my minutes?

It keeps answering. Extra minutes are billed at your plan's rate, and you can set a spending cap.

Does it replace my receptionist?

It isn't meant to. It covers the calls your team can't get to: lunch breaks, busy mornings, evenings, weekends. A lot of owners don't have a receptionist at all, and that's who it helps most.

Can it handle several calls at once?

Yes. Callers don't get a busy signal because someone else is already on the line.

Where is my data stored?

In the United States. We can't offer Canadian data residency yet. Privacy and security explains why and how we protect it.

Is it for clinics or law firms?

Not yet. They have health and client-confidentiality rules we're not set up for. More here

Can it call people back or make outbound calls?

No. It answers calls. It doesn't make them.

Can it reply to text messages?

You can reply to texts by hand from the dashboard. The receptionist doesn't reply to texts on its own yet.

What happens if AlloPlace is down?

TBD: describe the outage fallback once it's built, and link the status page.
