Everyone wants July 1.
In Quebec, many leases end June 30, and July 1 is the traditional moving day. The calls about it start in the middle of winter. AlloPlace answers in English or French, collects what you need for a quote, and books the estimates while your crews are carrying couches.
The calls you get
"Are you free on July 1?" comes first, often months ahead. Then the quote questions: a four-and-a-half on the third floor, outside stairs, an elevator that needs booking, a piano. Small moves, long-distance moves, office moves, people who need packing or a few weeks of storage. And on moving day itself: "Your truck was supposed to be here at eight."
What it does for you
Asks every quote question, every time. Both addresses, floor numbers, stairs or elevator, size of the place, heavy items, the date. You write the list once and every caller gets it.
Lets you approve the job. Moves don't come in neat lengths. With booking requests, it collects the details and a preferred date, and you confirm when you know you have a crew and a truck.
Answers "are you free?" honestly. It works from your calendar and your rules. If the date is full, it says so and offers the closest open day.
Puts moving-day calls through. A customer waiting on a late crew gets transferred to your dispatcher, not stuck in a message.
Answers on your website too. The chat widget asks the same quote questions for people who'd rather type.
A typical call
It's February. A caller in Rosemont is moving on July 1 from a third-floor walk-up with outside stairs to a ground floor in Longueuil. She asks if you're available. Your rule says moves around July 1 are booking requests only, so AlloPlace collects both addresses, the stairs, the washer and dryer, and the piano, and tells her you'll confirm. That evening, you look over the request with everything you need to price it.
TBD: replace with a real call once a customer agrees.
Rules you might write
- "Every quote needs both addresses, floor numbers, stairs or elevator, and any piano or safe."
- "All moves between June 25 and July 5 are booking requests. I confirm them myself."
- "If a crew is late on moving day, transfer to the dispatcher."
- "We don't move outside Quebec. Take a message and say we'll refer them."
Good to know
- Calendar or software: books into Google Calendar only. There's no connection to moving-company software. Talk to us first.
- Deposits: it doesn't take payments or card numbers. If you hold dates with a deposit, you'll collect it the way you do now.
- No outbound calls: it answers calls. It won't call customers back to confirm a date.
