A door stuck open is a house that won't lock.

Broken springs don't wait for business hours, and neither does someone whose car is stuck inside at 7 a.m. AlloPlace answers in English or French, books the installs and tune-ups, and sends the stuck doors to your tech.

The calls you get

There was a loud bang and now the door won't move. The door came off its track. The opener hums but nothing happens. The remote stopped working after a battery change. Then the planned work: a new insulated door before winter, a quieter opener, new weatherstripping, a quote for a commercial overhead door.

The urgent ones have a pattern. The door is stuck closed with a car inside, or stuck open so the house can't be locked.

What it does for you

Asks the question that matters first. Is the door open or closed, and is there a car inside? Your rules turn the answer into a transfer, a same-day slot or a regular booking.

Repeats your safety advice. If you want callers told not to lift a door with a broken spring, it tells them, in your words.

Answers the remote question. Upload your programming guides and it walks callers through the basics from those. If the guide doesn't cover their model, it says so and takes a message.

Books installs and quotes. New doors and openers go into your Google Calendar at the length you set. Callers get a confirmation text.

Picks up early. The worst calls come before work and after dinner. Now somebody answers both.

A typical call

It's 6:50 a.m. in Blainville. A caller heard a bang last night and now the door won't open, with the car inside and work at 8. AlloPlace asks whether the door is open or closed and whether they can see a broken spring. It tells them not to try to force the door up, which is your rule, and since a trapped car before 9 a.m. is on your urgent list, it transfers to your on-call tech.

TBD: replace with a real call once a customer agrees.

Rules you might write

  • "If a door is stuck open after 8 p.m., transfer to the on-call tech."
  • "If someone heard a loud bang and the door won't move, tell them it's probably a spring and not to lift the door by hand."
  • "New door quotes need a measure. Book them on Saturday mornings."
  • "We only do residential doors. Commercial calls become a message for the office."

Good to know

  • Calendar or software: books into Google Calendar only. If you schedule in Housecall Pro or Jobber, there's no direct connection yet. Talk to us first.
  • Brands: it only says you service a brand of opener if that brand is in your list.
  • Payments: it doesn't take deposits or card numbers on the phone.
