The guest is at the door. You're at dinner.
Guests call when the code won't work, the heat's low, or they can't find the parking. AlloPlace answers in English or French with your property's name, handles what your house guide already covers, and puts the urgent calls through to you or whoever's on call.
The calls you get
Most are small. Where do we park? What time is check-out? How does the fireplace work? Which bin is recycling? Can we check in early?
A few aren't small at all: locked out at 11 p.m., no hot water, a breaker that tripped and took the heat with it. Then there's the neighbour calling at 1 a.m. about the noise, and the cleaner asking whether today's turnover is still on.
What it does for you
Answers from your house guide. Upload it, or write the answers in: parking, check-out time, the hot tub, the thermostat, garbage day. Guests get an answer on the first ring instead of waiting for you to reply to a message.
Puts real problems through. Locked out, no heat, water where it shouldn't be. Your rules send those live to you, your co-host or your handyman.
Gives neighbours a real answer. A neighbour who calls about noise gets a polite reply, and you get a text alert with what they said and how to reach them.
Speaks both languages. Visitors from France, Toronto or down the road. It answers in French or English and switches when the caller does.
Keeps a record. Every call has a recording, a transcript and a one-line summary, which helps when a guest's story changes after check-out.
A typical call
Friday, 10:30 p.m., at a chalet near Mont-Tremblant. A guest from Toronto calls: they've just arrived and it's cold inside. AlloPlace answers in English, says it's an AI assistant, and reads them the thermostat steps from your house guide. They've already tried that. "No heat" is on your urgent list, so it tells them it's putting them through and transfers to your co-host, who lives ten minutes away.
TBD: replace with a real call once a customer agrees.
Rules you might write
- "Never give out door codes or lockbox codes. If a guest can't get in, transfer to me."
- "If a guest reports no heat, no water or a leak, transfer to Julie."
- "Early check-in only if I confirm it. Take a message with their arrival time."
- "If a neighbour calls about noise, take their name and number and say I'll handle it tonight."
Good to know
- Calendar or software: no connection to Airbnb, Vrbo, Guesty, Hostaway or any channel manager. It can't look up a reservation, and it doesn't take bookings for stays or payments.
- Not an emergency line: for fire, gas or anyone hurt, guests should call 911. Put that in your greeting.
- Your number: get a local number for your house guide and check-in instructions, so guest calls stop landing on your personal cell.
